Ejike Obinna had a career-high 16 points, and 15 rebounds to lead the Hawks past Mount St. Mary's, 80-60, Saturday afternoon at Hagan Arena.
How It Happened
• The Hawks got off to a hot start as they connected on 6-of-9 from the field to open a 14-2 lead on a dunk by
Taylor Funk.
• Behind an 8-2 run, Mount St. Mary's cut St. Joe's lead to 20-12.
• Obinna and
Cameron Brown sparked a 19-10 surge to end the half as the pair combined for 14 points, with Brown connecting on a three-pointer at the buzzer to make it 39-22.
• In the second half, a three-pointer by Brown started a 16-4 run by the Hawks, with a put-back layup by
Charles Coleman capping it to give SJU a 60-34 lead.
• Saint Joseph's allowed Mount St. Mary's to get no closer than the final score as the Hawks improved to 2-0 on the season.

• Obinna finished the afternoon 6-of-11 from the field, and 4-of-6 from the foul line for 16 points.
