ANAHEIM, Calif. – Saint Joseph's
Ejike Obinna scored a career-high 18 points and added 10 rebounds, but #24 USC held off the Hawks, 70-55, in the opening game of the Paycom Wooden Legacy on Thursday evening at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena.
Saint Joseph's moves to the Paycom Wooden Legacy's third-place game on Friday and will face either Georgetown or San Diego State at 9 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
How It Happened
• After a back-and-forth start to the contest, the Trojans used an 11-0 run to open a 23-9 advantage on a free throw by Joshua Morgan at 10:08.
• Saint Joseph's cut the deficit to nine, but USC went into halftime ahead 38-26.
• Behind an 11-6 run to open the second half, the Hawks made it 44-37 on a three-pointer by
Erik Reynolds II at 16:03.
• The Trojans responded with a quick 6-0 run to push their lead to 50-37.
• Saint Joseph's continued to battle, but USC allowed the Hawks to get no closer than 11 points.Â

• Obinna collected his second double-double of the season as he finished the night 9-of-13 from the floor for a game-high 18 points to go with a team-high 10 boards.
• Obinna's previous career-high of 16 points came against Mount St. Mary's earlier this month.
• Taylor Funk added 12 points to go with eight rebounds.
• Jordan Hall had a game-high six assists and added six rebounds and two points.
