PHILADELPHIA –
Saint Joseph's women's basketball returns to Hagan Arena on Saturday afternoon when Yale visits Philadelphia. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. with the game streaming nationally on ESPN+ and internationally through the Atlantic 10.
 
ABOUT SAINT JOSEPH'S:
  • The Hawks are 1-6 overall after dropping all three games at the Van Chancellor Classic.
  • St. Joe's is recording 55.4 points per game as a team and allowing 59.3.
  • Seven Hawks are scoring at least five points on average this season, led by junior Kaliah Henderson with 11.0 per game. Henderson also leads SJU in rebounding with 6.3 rpg.
  • Graduate student Alayna Gribble is the only Hawk to have started all seven games this season. She is second on the team in points (8.6) and rebounds (5.1) per game.
  • Graduate student Katie Jekot is third in the conference in assist to turnover ratio at 2.10 and leads the Crimson & Gray with 3.5 apg. She's also third on the squad at 7.8 points per game.
  • Rookie Mackenzie Smith rounds out all scorers above 7.0 ppg with 7.6. The East Jordan, Nova Scotia native made her first career start in the narrow loss to Ball State and posted a career best 17 points. She's hitting 40.5% of her shots, including 58.3% from long range. Smith's three-point field goal percentage ranks in the 98th percentile, according to Her Hoops Stats.
  • Freshman Laila Fair is heating up for the Hawks after averaging 6.3 ppg in the Van Chancellor Classic, including a career high 12 points against Old Dominion. She's ranked in the 100th percentile by Her Hoops Stats with a 73.3% field goal percentage.
ABOUT YALE:
  • The Bulldogs are 5-3 on the season after a Tuesday night loss at Quinnipiac.
  • Yale is led by seventh year head coach Allison Guth.
  • Collectively, the team is scoring 60.6 ppg on average and allowing its opponents 59.9.
  • Camilla Emsbo (16.4 ppg) leads a trio of double-digit scorers for the Bulldogs, alongside Jenna Clark (11.5 ppg), and Kiara Astrom (10.7 ppg).
  • Emsbo is posting a double-double on average with a team best 10.9 boards per outing.
