Men's Basketball Drops Big 5 Opener At #6 Villanova

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Saint Joseph's Jordan Hall finished with a team-high 22 points, but the Hawks fell to #6 Villanova in their Big 5 opener, 81-52, on Saturday afternoon at Finneran Pavilion.

How It Happened
• After a back-and-forth opening six minutes, Villanova scored 12-straight points to push ahead 26-11 on a pair of Jermaine Samuels free throws at 7:54.
• Hall and Ejike Obinna combined for all 11 points during an 11-2 run by the Hawks, as a jumper by Hall made it 28-22 with 4:06 to go in the first half.
• A pair of three-pointers by Villanova's Collin Gillespie capped the first half, and sparked a 13-0 response that pushed the Wildcats' lead to 41-22.
• A three-pointer by Erik Reynolds II made it 41-25, but that would be as close as St. Joe's would get on the afternoon.

Inside The Boxscore
• For the second straight game, Hall led SJU in scoring, finishing with 22 points, to go with five assists, a block, a steal and a rebound.
• Obinna scored in double figures for the fourth-straight game as he added 10 points and four rebounds.
• Cameron Brown was the third Hawk in double figures, chipping in with 10 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
