Jordan Hall scored a career-high 33 points and
Ejike Obinna added a career-best 20 points to lead the Hawks past Penn, 78-71, in a Big 5 matchup on Wednesday evening at Hagan Arena.
How It Happened
• Penn jumped out to an early 8-5 advantage, but a 12-4 burst by Saint Joseph's pushed the Hawks ahead 17-12 on an
Erik Reynolds II layup.
• The Hawks extended their lead to 37-27 on a Hall three-pointer with 2:09 remaining in the first half.
• The Quakers responded with eight straight points as the visitors came within two, 37-35, on a Max Martz three-pointer 23 seconds into the second half.
• Ahead 42-40, Saint Joseph's scored 10 of the next 13 points as a
Taylor Funk three-pointer put the Hawks ahead 52-43.
• Penn fought back to make it 57-55, but back-to-back three-pointers by Hall and Funk pushed SJU ahead 63-55.
• The Hawks extended their lead to as many as 10, 71-61, but Penn answered back to make it 74-70 with less than a minute to play.
• A bucket by Hall and a pair of free throws by Reynolds II helped seal the victory for Saint Joseph's.

• Hall capped his career night going 12-of-19 from the field, including 8-of-11 from three-point range, and 1-of-1 from the foul line, for 33 points.
• Hall also added a game-high seven assists as Saint Joseph's finished with 15 assists on 30 field goals.
• Obinna continued his impressive shooting display, going 9-of-13 from the floor, as he finished with a career-high 20 points and added nine rebounds.
• Reynolds II was the third Hawk in double figures as the rookie scored 10 points and handed out three assists.
• Wednesday's contest was the first meeting between St. Joe's and Penn at Hawk Hill since a 92-82 overtime victory by the Hawks on January 21, 1995.
