AMBLER, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team rode a doubles sweep and strong singles play to a 6-1 win over Chestnut Hill on Saturday night at the Upper Dublin Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's (2-0) got off to a fast start with a sweep in doubles play.  Amanda Nava and Stow Weiss notched a 6-1 win in the top flight before Ireland Amato and Anna Kirk secured the point with a win by the same score in the second.  Paige Conrad and Madeline Hill finished off the sweep with a 6-4 win in the third flight.

• The Hawks kept things going in singles play, as Weiss doubled the lead with a 6-1, 6-1 win in the second flight before Nava's 6-1, 6-2 result in the first put SJU on the brink of the match victory.

• Fabiana Tort-Umpierre then earned a 6-2, 6-4 win in flight number three for the clinching point.  Sophia Amato was a 6-0, 6-1 winner in the sixth before Ireland Amato finished off a 6-4, 6-1 triumph in the fourth to give the Hawks their final points.

HAWK TALK
"A tougher opponent, but our ladies rose to the challenge," head coach Ian Crookenden said.  "An excellent night for Stow Weiss, who bounced back from last week's loss with an excellent night of tennis.  First singles match for Alex Kramer, and she had a very tough battle before succumbing in a 10-point tiebreaker.  A very satisfying start to our season thus far, and I am very pleased and proud of our team."
