Men's Basketball Soars Past Dayton In Home Finale, 97-84

Saint Joseph's Taylor Funk became the 58th student-athlete in program history to reach 1,000 career points as he led four Hawks in doubles figures with a career-best 36 points on Wednesday night as SJU soared past Dayton, 97-84, in the final game at Hagan Arena this season. Honoring its graduating class prior to tip, the Hawks also got a 25-point performance from redshirt senior Ryan Daly, while sophomore Cameron Brown added 18 points and freshman Jordan Hall finished with 16 points.

How It Happened
• The Hawks took control from the tip as they ran out to a 24-7 lead, with Funk connecting on three of his five three-pointers during the opening 5:41 of play.
• Dayton fought back and cut Saint Joseph's lead to 31-21 on a layup by Zimi Nwokeji at 10:36.
• The Hawks pushed back and extended their lead to as many as 17, before entering halftime ahead 54-38.
• Behind an 11-3 run to start the second half, the Flyers cut their deficit to 57-49 on a layup by Jalen Crutcher.
• Dayton continued to chip away at the Hawks' lead, cutting it to 62-59.
• Saint Joseph's answered with a 12-3 run as a three-pointer by Cameron Brown pushed the lead to 74-63.
• Having its advantage cut to seven, back-to-back three-pointers from Brown and Hall sparked a 12-0 run by the Hawks that pushed them ahead 88-69.
• Saint Joseph's allowed Dayton to get no closer than the final deficit.
