NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Making 12 saves in her collegiate debut against #7 West Virginia on Sunday, Saint Joseph's rookie goalkeeper
Katie Cappelletti has been recognized for her performance as she has been named Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.
Getting the start in goal against the Mountaineers, Cappelletti made an impressive debut as she recorded three first half saves and fowwed with nine more saves in the second half for a SJU season-high 12 saves. A native of DeWitt, New York, Cappelletti came to Hawk Hill after a standout career at Jamesville-DeWitt High School where she was a four-time All-Regional honoree and a Second Team All-State selection as a senior.
Cappelletti and the Hawks return to action this Sunday as they host Rhode Island at 1 p.m. at Sweeney Field.
