KINGSTON, R.I. – The Saint Joseph's baseball team opened its final road trip of the regular season with a 6-5 win over Rhode Island at Bill Beck Field on Friday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's (16-15 overall, 10-7 Atlantic 10) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second after
Nate Thomas walked,
Brett Callahan tripled him home, and
Ryan Picollo followed with a sacrifice fly.
• The Hawks doubled their advantage in the fourth on a two-out, two-run single by
Langston Livingston, but the hosts put a three-spot on the board in the bottom of the frame to make it a 4-3 game.
• Picollo gave SJU some breathing room in the top of the sixth, but Rhode Island (21-22-1 overall, 8-5 Atlantic 10) tied things up at 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh.
• Livingston came through again in the top of the eighth, as his two-out single plated Callahan with the go-ahead run.
•
Hayden Seig then sent the Rams down in order in the eighth and ninth to secure the win.
