7/9/2021 12:00:00 PM

Recent Saint Joseph's graduate Jordan Olenginski is among the nominees for the prestigious NCAA Woman of the Year Award.  The four-year field hockey standout is one of 16 student-athletes nominated from Atlantic 10 Conference institutions.

Established in 1991, the Woman of the Year Award recognizes graduating student-athletes that have distinguished themselves with their performance on and off the field, standing out among their peers in athletics, academics, service, and leadership.

Olenginski was a key component of the Hawks' three consecutive Atlantic 10 regular season and tournament championship sweeps between 2017 and 2019 and was named the winner of the Saint Joseph's Class of 1950 Award, bestowed upon the most outstanding student-athletes of the senior class.  She was also chosen for the NFHCA Division I Senior Team this season.

A native of Mountain Top, Pennsylvania, Olenginski is a two-time NFHCA All-Region Second Team selection, while earning First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors in 2019 and Second Team All-Atlantic 10 accolades this season.  She was also named to the Atlantic 10 All-Championship Team in both 2017 and 2019; she scored the lone goal in SJU's most recent Atlantic 10 title game victory, a 1-0 win at Richmond in 2019.

Olenginski excelled off the field as well, as she was named to the 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Team while earning three Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team honors and two Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team nods during her career.  She was also named an NFHCA Scholar of Distinction and earned National Academic Squad status in each of her four years on Hawk Hill.  In addition, Olenginski was chosen to take part in the 2020 NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum and helped create the SJU chapter of Project Sunshine, a service group that works with pediatric patients and their families.

Conferences select up to two nominees from their member institutions to forward to the Woman of the Year selection committee, which selects the top 10 honorees and three finalists from each division.  The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics then chooses the Woman of the Year from among those nine finalists.  The top 30 honorees will be celebrated and the 2021 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced this fall.
