PHILADELPHIA – With a share of the Big 5 Championship on the line, Saint Joseph's will welcome La Salle to Hagan Arena for a nationally televised Big 5/Atlantic 10 matchup on CBS Sports Network. The game is part of the league's MLK Day coverage.
 
ABOUT SAINT JOSEPH'S:
  • The Hawks enter play at 5-9 overall, 1-1 A-10, and 2-1 Big 5 after a runaway victory over Richmond, 74-54, this past Wednesday.
  • In the victory over the Spiders, rookie Talya Brugler (17 pts, 13 rbs) and senior Lovin Marsicano (18 pts) led a cohort of four double digit scorers as the Crimson & Gray shot a season best 50.0% from the floor.
  • Collectively, SJU is averaging 60.6 points for and 61.4 points against this year, while connecting on 40.7% from the floor, 33.1% from three-point range, and 69.8% from the free throw line.
  • Seven Hawks are scoring 6.3 points per game or better this season with a pair about 10.0.
  • Graduate student Katie Jekot tops the Hawks in scoring (10.6), assists (4.3), assist to turnover ratio (2.15), and steals (2.1). Her assists per game are fifth best in the league, while her assist to turnover ratio ranks her third in the A-10 and 49th nationally. Jekot has dropped at least 10 points in six of her last eight.
  • Junior Kaliah Henderson is first off the bench and second on the squad with 10.2 ppg. She's also the Hawks' top rebounder at 5.2 per outing.
  • Marsicano (20.5 ppg) and Brugler (18.0 ppg) are the top two scorers in league games this season. Brugler, the reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, also adds a team high 10.5 rpg in those games.
  • All four of St. Joe's active rookies, Brugler, Laila Fair, Julia Nyström, and Mackenzie Smith have made significant contributions this season. Brugler and Smith are the only Hawks to play in all 14 games this year.
ABOUT LA SALLE:
  • The Explorers are 8-6 overall, 1-1 in A-10 play, and 1-1 in Big 5 games under fourth year head coach Mountain MacGillivray.
  • La Salle is scoring 67.1 points for and allowing 64.1 points against this season, while shooting 36.5% overall, 30.4% from deep, and 78.0% from the line.
  • Seven Explorers are scoring at least 6.1 ppg on average this season with three in double figures.
  • Kayla Spruill leads the Blue & Gold in points (14.7) and rebounds (8.6). The Baltimore, Md. native is connecting on 44.3% of her shots, including 42.6% from long range.
  • Gabby Crawford, who has only played in three games for La Salle, is second on the team in scoring at 13.3 ppg. Crawford missed this first 10 games of the season and the game at Fordham.
  • Claire Jacobs rounds out the double-digit scorers with 11.4 points per game.
  • Molly Masciantonio posts an impressive 2.52 assist to turnover ratio, which is second in the league and 25th in the nation heading into Monday. Her 4.9 assists per game ranks third in the A-10 and 49th nationally. Masciantonio also posts a team high 2.64 steals per outing for best in the conference and 39th nationwide.
