Men’s Cross Country Produces Strong Result at the IC4A Championships

VAN CORTLANDT PARK, N.Y. – The Saint Joseph's men's cross country team finished in 7th place out of 31 teams, competing at the IC4A Championships on Friday morning.
 
ABOUT THE EVENT
  • The event was held in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
  • 31 teams were entered in the field, with 356 runners participating.
  • The Hawks finished 7th out of 31 teams, the best out of all Atlantic 10 teams participating.
 
HOW THE HAWKS FINISHED
  • Jack Shea led the Hawks with a 26th place finish with his time of 24:50.9, setting the fifth fastest mark of Atlantic 10 runners.
  • Jay Shanahan was the next SJU runner to cross the line, placing 40th with a time of 25:04.9.
  • Just 14 seconds off a new PR, Anthony Gargani finished with a time of 25:22.7 to finish in 54th place.
  • Colin Kane and Matt Coffey finished the scoring for the Hawks with times of 25:37.8 and 25:42.8, good for 71st and 78th.
  • Noah Deckert (25:44.0) and Kevin Jumper (25:50.1)
  • Ira Daly nearly met the 26 minute mark, concluding his race in 113th with a time of 26:07.1. Gavin Campbell continues his transition to cross country, the mid-distance track and field runner finishing 125th with a time of 26:13.3.
  • Quinn O'Dell placed 142nd with a time of 26:22.2, while Aidan Doherty and Aidan Groff all finished within six seconds of each other with times of 26:25.3 and 26:28.5.
  • Will Rau placed 191st with a time of 26:52.9. Patrick Coyle and Carter Geer followed just after their freshman teammate with times of 26:56.8 and 26:57.3.
  • Dawson Baptiste (27:10.5) and Colton Johnson (27:11.8) finished just outside of a second off each other.
  • Zach Williams finished with a time of 27:25.4, Ryne Beni recording a time of 27:50.3.
  • Cole Wassell (28:58.8), Dylan Zuch (29:29.0) and Omar Bedak (30:42.9) concluded the action for the Hawks.

  • The men return to action next week to take part in the Haverford Season Ender as they do their final tune-up before the A-10 Championships.
