PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph's
Cameron Brown scored a career-high 25 points and added 10 rebounds, but the Hawks fell at Big 5 rival Temple, 70-60, on Tuesday evening at the Liacouras Center.
How It Happened
• In a defensive-minded first half, Temple took a 16-11 lead on a dunk by Khalif Battle midway through the period.
• Brown capped an 8-0 response by the Hawks as his three-pointer put St. Joe's up, 19-16.Â
• Neither team would pull away by more than three points for the remainder of the half as the Owls took a 29-26 advantage into the second half behind a three-pointer by Hysier Miller with 10 seconds remaining in the period.
• The Hawks cut Temple's lead to two, 31-29, on a three-pointer by Brown early in the second.
• The Owls answered back with an 8-2 run to open a 39-31 lead less than two minutes in.
• Temple extended its lead to 11, 52-41, but five consecutive points from
Erik Reynolds II brought the Hawks to within 52-46 with 8:17 to play.
• Saint Joseph's would get no closer as the Hawks moved to 1-1 in Big 5 play.
Inside The Boxscore
• Brown finished the night 7-8 from the field, including 5-6 from three-point range, and 4-4 from the foul line.
• Brown, who collected his third double-double of the season, surpassed his previous career-high of 24 points set against Davidson on February 18, 2020.
• Reynolds II was the only other Hawk in double figures as he finished the night with 16 points to go with three assists.
