ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Freshman
Erik Reynolds II led four Hawks in double figures with 17 points and
Taylor Funk collected his second double-double of the season, but Saint Louis held off Saint Joseph's strong effort for a 72-61 win on Tuesday evening at Chaifetz Arena.
How It Happened
• Saint Louis used an 8-0 run to break a 6-6 tie as Marten Linssen put the Billikens ahead 14-6 on a jumper in the paint at 13:40.
• The Hawks answered back with a 7-0 run as a layup by
Jack Forrest brought St. Joe's to within 14-13.
• A layup by Gibson Jimerson sparked a 6-0 response by Saint Louis as it pushed ahead 22-17.
• A putback layup by
Taylor Funk made it a one-point contest, 26-25, but the Billikens entered halftime ahead 31-27.
• Saint Louis scored the opening five points of the second half to open a 36-27 advantage on a Jimerson jumper.
• Saint Joseph's continued to fight back as a three-pointer by
Erik Reynolds II made it 48-44 with 10:57 to play.
• The Billikens opened their biggest lead of the contest as they answered with a 13-2 run to open a 61-46 lead.
• A three-pointer by St. Joe's
Jordan Hall made it a 63-54 contest, but that would be as close as the Hawks would come.

• Reynolds II went 6-of-13 from the field, including 4-of-7 from three-point range to record his 16th double-figure scoring performance of the year.
• Funk finished with a career-high 14 rebounds to go with 10 points for his second double-double of the season.
• Hall scored 14 points and added three rebounds and two assists.
• Obinna was the fourth Hawk in double figures, finishing with 12 points and five rebounds.
