Saint Joseph's
Taylor Funk finished with a game-high 19 points and 10 rebounds for his second consecutive double-double, but St. Bonaventure downed the Hawks, 54-52, in a closely-fought matchup at Hagan Arena on Saturday evening.
How It Happened
• A 9-0 run by the Hawks opened a 22-16 lead on a three-pointer by
Erik Reynolds II at 5:50.
• St. Bonaventure closed the half on an 8-3 run as St. Joe's took a 25-24 edge into the second half.
• Saint Joseph's pushed ahead by eight, 42-34, on a three-pointer by Reynolds II at 12:37.
• The Bonnies took their first lead of the second half, 49-47, on a jumper by Abdoul Karim Coulibaly with 5:45 to play.
• A deep three-pointer by Funk, put the Hawks back ahead, 50-49.
• After St. Bonaventure edged ahead,
Jordan Hall gave St. Joe's the lead back once more, 52-51, on a jumper with 1:55 remaining.
• Defense at both ends of the floor intensified in the final minute, but a dunk by Jalen Adaway gave the visitors a 53-52 lead with :38 left.
• Following an offensive foul by the Hawks, Dominick Welch was fouled and hit 1-of-2 free throws to make it 54-52.
• Saint Joseph's had a chance to tie in the final seconds, but an inbounds pass was knocked away.
