Men's Basketball Falls In Big 5 Finale At La Sallle, 49-48

Saint Joseph's Ejike Obinna and Jordan Hall each posted double-doubles at La Salle, but the Explorers topped the Hawks, 49-48, in the Big 5 finale for both teams on Wednesday evening at Tom Gola Arena.

How It Happened
• An early 12-0 run gave the Hawks a 12-3 edge on an Erik Reynolds II three-pointer at 15:47.
• Saint Joseph's built its first-half lead to as many as 14, 36-22, on a pair of free throws by Taylor Funk with :30 to go in the period.
• The Hawks pushed their lead to 15 on a three-pointer by Funk to open the second-half scoring.
• La Salle battled back to tie the contest at 45-45 on a jumper by Josh Nickelberry at 3:16.
• Off a steal, Jordan Hall found Reynolds II for three to put the Hawks back ahead, 48-45.
• Khalil Brantley answered with a three-pointer for La Salle to tie the contest at 48 with 1:27 to play.
• Clifton Moore gave the Explorers a 49-48 lead on a free throw with :47 to play.
• After a defensive stop, Nickelberry was fouled, but missed the front-end of a one-and-one as Obinna grabbed the rebound for the Hawks.
• Hall's game-winning attempt missed its mark.

• Obinna finished with a team-high 14 points and a career-best 18 rebounds for his eighth double-double of the season.
• Hall picked up his eighth double-double as he scored 12 points and had 13 rebounds to go with five assists and two steals.
• Reynolds II was the third Hawk in double figures, finishing with 11 points.
• Saint Joseph's was held to a season-low 12 second half points.
