Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The USciences baseball team answered Pace's four-run eighth with a four-run bottom-half, only to fall in 10 innings, 8-7, to the Setters on Saturday at Father Judge High School.
After a balk made the score 7-4, Joe Duffy's two-RBI double made it a one-run game.
Evan Sinclair then tied the score with a single, but the Devils would strand the bases loaded with an inning-ending double play.
Pace would also strand the bases loaded with one out, in the top of the ninth, as Chris Brown worked around a one-out error.
Edward May got into scoring position with a one-out walk and a stolen base, but University of the Sciences could not walk it off.
The Setters would plate the winning one on a leadoff homer in the top of the 10th.
The Devils went down 1-2-3 in the bottom-half.
Starter Ben Bradt exited the game with a 2-1 lead after allowing zero earned runs on two hits in his five innings of work.
After Pace opened the scoring with an unearned run in the third, USciences took its first advantage in the fourth thanks to May's bases-loaded walk and AJ Pena's RBI ground-out.
The Setters regained the lead with a two-run sixth, only to have the Devils even the score back up on another Duffy RBI double in the bottom-half.
Duffy led the offense with his two doubles and three RBI.
Pena and Frank Pollock both finished 2-for-5, scoring twice and once, respectively.
Adam Estrada reached base three times by going 1-for-3 with two base on balls.
Brown gave up just one hit, while striking out three and walking none, in his two relief innings.
University of the Sciences is back at Father Judge one final time tomorrow for a doubleheader against regionally-ranked West Chester at 11 a.m.
