PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph's and Davidson will square off in a home-and-home series this weekend with the Hawks at the Wildcats Friday with a rematch scheduled for Sunday at Hagan Arena, after the squads previously scheduled game for January 5 was postponed. Both games will stream nationally on ESPN+ and internationally through the Atlantic 10, with Sunday's home game being simulcast on NBC Sports Philadelphia+.
 
ABOUT SAINT JOSEPH'S:
  • St. Joe's is 6-12 on the season and 2-5 in league games after dropping its last three contests.
  • The Hawks are posting 59.6 points for and 62.8 points against on average, while shooting 40.0% from the field, 32.4% from three-point land, and 71.1% from the stripe.
  • Graduate student Katie Jekot sits atop the team in scoring (10.2), assists (4.6), steals (1.7), assist to turnover ratio (1.9), and free throw percentage (86.5). She ranks fourth in the league in assist to turnover ratio and assists per game, while placing second in FT percentage.
  • The next three leading scorers for SJU are freshmen. The reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Talya Brugler is second overall with 9.3 points per outing. She sits seventh in the Atlantic 10, hitting 50.0% of her shots. The Nazareth, Pa. native leads the Hawks with 4.9 rebounds per game and is one of two players to play in all 19 games this season. In league games, Brugler has upped her production to 13.1 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.
  • Brugler is joined by classmate Mackenzie Smith as the only other Hawk to play in all 19 games this year. Smith is third on the team with 8.5 points per game and leads the Atlantic 10 in three-point shooting (44.2%).
  • First year Laila Fair, who is fresh off a 19-point performance against La Salle, is fourth on the squad with 7.9 points per game and second with 4.1 rebounds per outing. Fair is connecting on 58.7% of her shots this season. She is tied for a team high 10 blocks this season despite only having played in 13 games.
ABOUT DAVIDSON:
  • The Wildcats are 12-8 overall and 3-5 in league play under fifth-year head coach Gayle Fulks. Davidson has lost back-to-back games, falling to Dayton and George Mason.
  • The 'Cats are scoring 63.0 points and allowing 60.2 points per game, while shooting 41.1% overall, 31.6% from long range, and 74.1% from the line.
  • Six players are scoring at least 7.4 points per game this season, with a pair averaging double figures.
  • Elle Sutphin (13.3) and Suzi-Rose Deegan (12.8) are the top scorers for Davidson this season. The pair also are the squads' top rebounders with Deegan (5.4) ahead of Sutphin (5.0).
  • Four Wildcats have started all 20 games this season with Adelaide Fuller, Chloe Welch, and Cassidy Gould joining the top two scorers.
