PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph's (8-13, 4-5 A-10) welcomes in league leader Rhode Island (18-3, 8-0 A-10) on Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. tipoff inside Hagan Arena. The game will stream nationally on ESPN+ and internationally through the Atlantic 10.
 
ABOUT SAINT JOSEPH'S:
  • The Hawks are 8-13, 4-5 A-10 after sweeping Davidson in the home and home series this past weekend.
  • SJU is registering 59.9 points for and 62.4 points against, while shooting 40.3% from the floor, 33.2% from long range, and 72.4% from the line.
  • A total of six Hawks are scoring at least 5.9 points per game this season, with a pair averaging double figures.
  • Graduate student Katie Jekot leads the Hawks in points (10.1), assists (4.8), assist to turnover ratio (1.85), and steals (1.65). The Enola, Pa. native ranks third in the Atlantic 10 in assists per game and 52nd nationally.
  • Freshman Talya Brugler has won four total Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week awards, including back-to-back. She is averaging 10.0 ppg and 5.5 rpg with the fourth best field goal percentage in the conference at 51.6%. The Nazareth, Pa. native boosts her totals to 13.9 points and 8.6 rebounds in conference games, which rank 12th and fourth, respectively. In league games, she is also shooting 52.2% for fifth overall, one place behind classmate Laila Fair at 53.5%.
  • Rookie Mackenzie Smith is third overall with 8.8 points per outing, which jump to 11.3 in league games this season. She is second in the A-10 with a 43.1% from long range. Smith joins Brugler as the only two Hawks to play in all 21 games this season.
  • Fair is tallying 7.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per outing, with her rebounding second most on the Hawks. She is shooting at a 56.3% clip and adds a team best 0.8 blocks per game.
ABOUT RHODE ISLAND:
  • The Rams are 18-3, 8-0 under third year head coach Tammi Reiss and are riding an 11-game win streak entering Wednesday.
  • Rhody is scoring 66.8 points and allowing 52.4 points on average, while shooting 44.5% from the floor, 33.5% from deep, and 66.9% from the stripe.
  • Five Rams are recording at least 8.5 points or better this season, with four in double digits.
  • Emmanuelle Tahane leads the Rams in scoring (14.3) and is second in rebounding (8.0).
  • Dez Elmore is second in scoring (11.9) and paces the squad in boards (8.7).
  • Marie-Paule Foppossi (11.7) and Dolly Cairns (11.4) round out the top four scorers.
