Eli Gan-Dy won his first career league match as the USciences men's tennis team opened its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule at Dominican on Saturday evening.
The freshman came back from a 4-6 first-set defeat to take the final two sets at No. 3 singles, 6-4 and 6-3. This came after he and partner Pedro Ramos were narrowly defeated 5-7 at third-flight doubles.
Gan-Dy is now team-best 3-1 in singles play on the year.
University of the Sciences unfortunately fell in the two other singles matches to go to three sets, at the first and second flight.
Oscar Serra won the first set at No. 1 singles, 6-3, before dropping two close sets, 5-7 and 4-6, while Jack Kosirowski recovered from losing a first-set tiebreaker, 7-9, to take the second set 6-3. He would however come up just short in a 5-7 third set.
The Devils continue CACC play this Wednesday, hosting Jefferson at 4:30 p.m.
