Baseball Falls in Series Finale

CINCINNATI – Brendan Hueth hit a home run and drove in five runs but the Saint Joseph's baseball team ultimately fell in the finale of its weekend series, going down to Cincinnati by a score of 18-9.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Cincinnati (9-10) jumped out to the lead quickly, scoring seven times in the first inning.

• Saint Joseph's (10-7) got on the board in the top of the second after Andrew Cossetti led off with a triple and scored on a groundout by Hueth, but the hosts added three more in the bottom of the frame and five in the third to make it a 15-1 game.

• A double by Luca Trigiani and a single by Jake Artz led to another run for the Hawks in the fifth before Cossetti was hit by a pitch to lead off the sixth and scored on Hueth's third home run of the season to make it 15-4.

• Cossetti then scored Nate Thomas with an RBI double in the seventh before scoting himself on a single by Brandon Drapeau, but the Bearcats got both runs back in the bottom of the inning to make it 17-6.

• In the eighth, Cossetti earned another RBI when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded; Hueth then followed with a two-run double to close out the scoring for SJU; Cincinnati would add one more in the bottom of the eighth to set the final margin.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• Garrett Harker tossed five and a third innings and allowed four runs to get the win for Cincinnati.  Mike Falco started for SJU and took the loss to fall to 4-1 on the season.

• Hueth finished the day 2-for-4 with a run scored and five driven in, while Cossetti was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, two RBI, and was hit by a pitch twice.  Drapeau and Thomas each rapped out a pair of hits as well.
