Baseball Falls to Seton Hall, 9-4

MERION STATION, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's baseball team dropped the finale of its weekend series on Sunday, falling to Seton Hall, 9-4, at Smithson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Seton Hall (3-18) got on the board in the top of the first on a pair of RBI singles, but Andrew Cossetti cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning, doubling to the deepest part of the ballpark to score Nate Thomas and make it a 2-1 game.

• Saint Joseph's (12-9) went ahead in the second on an RBI single by Conlan Wall and an RBI double by Jake Artz.

• The Pirates regained the lead in the third with three runs on consecutive hits by Collin Sheehan and Steve Grober and would extend the margin when Sheehan doubled home two more in the fifth.

• Tim Cavanaugh made it a 7-4 game in the sixth with a solo home run, his third of the season, but Oscar Murray answered with a two-run shot in the top of the seventh to close out the scoring.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• Brennan O'Neill earned the win for Seton Hall, allowing four runs on seven hits in six innings, while Mike Falco was charged with seven runs on eight hits in four and a third innings to take the loss.  Michael Ciminiello earned a three-inning save with three shutout frames.

• Brendan Hueth posted a multi-hit game for the Hawks, while Cossetti reached base safely three times.

UP NEXT
The Hawks will host Delaware in the quarterfinals of the Liberty Bell Classic at Smithson Field on Tuesday afternoon.  Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
