Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The USciences baseball team held two early five-run leads and was ahead 8-5 entering the bottom of the eighth, only to have Jefferson tie the score in its penultimate at-bat before walking off in the ninth for a 9-8 victory on Wednesday afternoon.
Evan Sinclair's grand slam put University of the Sciences ahead 5-0 in the third, and Frank Pollock's two-run home run – his first of the season - made the score 7-2 in the fourth.
The Rams also scored two in the fourth before adding another in the fifth, but Eddie Parry's RBI double re-established a three-run advantage in the sixth.
USciences missed an opportunity to grow a larger lead though as the first out of the inning was recorded at the plate on that double, and the Devils failed to score again.
University of the Sciences went down in order in its final three at-bats, but Adam Estrada was able to keep Jefferson off the board in both the sixth and seventh.
A one-out walk in the eighth got things started though, as three straight hits and a sacrifice fly tied the score before the Rams led off the ninth with a walk-off home run.
Sinclair's grand slam was his fourth homer of the year, now tied for third in the program' recorded single-season history (since 2005), while his four RBI tied a career-high.
Pollock finished with two hits and multiple RBI too, and he joined Joe Duffy in scoring twice.
Parry also drove in two runs, as his bases-loaded walk opened the scoring the at-bat before Sinclair's grand slam.
Nick Cerelli finished 3-for-4 for his fourth multi-hit performance in seven games.
Louis Fresta notably started his first career game, working a scoreless first and second and inning to allow USciences to jump out to the 5-0 lead.
The Devils begin a five-game home-stand this Saturday, hosting Post for a doubleheader at 12 p.m.
