Box Score AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Hunter Parish became the seventh Division II student-athlete to hit three home runs in a game this year, and USciences hit a recorded program record (since 2010) five as a team, providing more than enough run support for Ben Bradt as the Devils run-ruled Malone, 11-1 in seven innings, on Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneers (7-3) scored their only run on an error in the top of the first, before Parish's two-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the second put USciences on top for good.
Joe Duffy then followed a Chris Anderson walk and AJ Pena single with a three-run home run to put exclamation point on a five-run second.
Eddie Parry got in on the action with a two-run homer in the fourth, before Parish added solo home runs in both the sixth and seventh.
Evan Sinclair drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth, and Parry ended the game with a walk-off single in the seventh.
Parish's four RBI tied a career-high, while the three homers moved him into a tie for 10th in program history with seven for his career.
Parry also moved his way up the program's record book, as he is now tied for seventh all-time with nine homers.
The two both finished 3-for-4.
Duffy and Pena each went 2-for-4, with Duffy driving in the three runs and Pena tying his career-high by scoring three runs.
Anderson scored twice as he finished 1-for-2 with a base on balls.
Bradt scattered just two hits across his six innings, striking out seven against two walks. He closed his first career quality start with seven consecutive outs, retiring Malone in order in both the fifth and sixth.
Ryan Hess then worked a hitless seventh.
University of the Sciences next faces D'Youville three straight games, beginning with a 10 a.m. doubleheader tomorrow.
