Hamm's Late Home Run, Schlechter's Complete-Game Shutout, Salvage Split at Jefferson

PHILADELPHIA – Taylor Hamm's seventh inning home run provided the only scoring, as Paige Schlechter threw her first career seven-inning shutout in USciences softball's 2-0 game two triumph at Jefferson on Tuesday afternoon.

The result salvaged a split for the Devils, after the Rams had won game one 8-0 in five innings.

Game Two

In a game that featured just seven hits, neither team had a runner reach scoring position until the bottom of the sixth when the Rams singled for a second time with one away in the frame.

Schlechter was able to induce back-to-back fly-outs though, setting the stage for Hamm in the seventh.

The senior's one-out blast over the left-center fence came after the inning had begun with an error, with a sacrifice bunt following. It was her eighth career home run, now tied for fifth in program history.

Schlechter came out for the seventh and worked around a leadoff double to preserve the shutout. That was one of just four hits allowed, with the senior also striking out five against just one walk.

Game One

Game one starter Megan Master surrendered just one hit in three scoreless innings, before Jefferson broke out for six runs, three of which were unearned, on five hits in the fourth.
