BRONX, N.Y. – Five Fordham runs in the middle innings doomed the Saint Joseph's baseball team to a 7-3 defeat at Houlihan Park on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Fordham (12-29 overall, 5-10 Atlantic 10) took the lead in the bottom of the first after scoring on a throwing error.
• Saint Joseph's (24-17 overall, 9-6 Atlantic 10) took the lead in the second on a RBI single by
Tim Cavanaugh and a sacrifice fly from
Brandon Drapeau.
• The Rams went back ahead with two in the fifth before extending the lead to 6-2 after six. Another error in the seventh brought home a run to make it 7-2.
• Drapeau hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth, but that would be as close as the Hawks would get.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• Brooks Ey allowed two runs on six hits in seven innings to earn the win, while MIke Falco took the loss after allowing four runs on four hits in two-plus innings.
• Cavanaugh,
Andrew Cossetti, and
Brendan Hueth each had two hits for the Hawks.
