Saint Joseph's opens the 2022 Atlantic 10 Softball Championship this Wednesday as the third seeded Hawks take on sixth seed Massachusetts at 2:30 p.m. The winner of the contest will advance to face second seed Fordham on Thursday at 2:30 p.m., while the loser will take on the loser of the contests between fourth seed Saint Louis and fifth seed Dayton in an elimination game at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. 

The winners of Thursday's main draw games will advance to meet in the semifinal, which will be played Friday at noon. The losing teams from the each round will play in the consolation bracket of the double-elimination tournament. The consolation bracket winner will face winner's bracket finalist in the A-10 Championship game Saturday at noon.

HAWKS CLAIM THIRD SEED IN ATLANTIC 10 CHAMPIONSHIP
Saint Joseph's capped the regular season with a 14-8 record in conference play to finish in third place overall in the nine-team league. The Hawks went 6-5 at home during A-10 play, and 8-3 on the road.

SAINT JOSEPH'S ATLANTIC 10 CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
With a berth in the 2022 Atlantic 10 Championship, the Hawks make their 22nd appearance in the conference's postseason and third under head coach Erin Brooks. Brooks helped an underdog Saint Joseph's team advance to the semifinals of the 2019 A-10 Championship, while the 2020 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Hawks bounced back to earn a bid in and host the conference tournament for the first time in program history in 2021. The Hawks have posted a 32-42 record all time, and advanced to the A-10 title game in 2004, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2015.
