PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph's Athletics is proud to announce the newest class of inductees to be enshrined in the Saint Joseph's Athletic Hall of Fame this fall.
In honor of the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX, Saint Joseph's will welcome eight standouts from the Hawks' rich history of women's athletics into the Hall of Fame. The honorees are:
Teresa Andreani '02, Softball: Andreani graduated third in program history in hits, fourth in doubles, fourth in runs scored, and fifth in runs batted in. A three-time Atlantic 10 All-Conference selection, she excelled in the classroom as well; a two-time Academic All-American and three-time Academic All-District honoree, she was named the Atlantic 10 Softball Student-Athlete of the Year in 2001.
Nicole Antonini '07, Field Hockey: Antonini, winner of the Class of 1950 Award for most outstanding senior student-athlete, was a four-time First Team All-Atlantic 10 and three-time NFHCA All-Region selection; she graduated as one of the Hawks' all-time leaders in goals, assists, and points. She still holds a share of the program's single-season assist record, set in 2004.
Debbie Bateman '09, Women's Rowing: One of the most decorated rowers in Hawk history, Bateman was part of the Varsity 8 boat that claimed the title at the 2006 Dad Vail Regatta and went on to compete in the Henley Royal Regatta. She would go on to lead the Varsity 8 to victory at the 2009 Atlantic 10 Championship and would twice be named the conference's Student-Athlete of the Year as well as the recipient of the Class of 1950 Award.
Robyne Bostick '93, Women's Basketball: Bostick is a member of both the SJU Women's Basketball and Philadelphia Big 5 Halls of Fame after a standout career in which she helped lead the Hawks to four Big 5 titles. She earned All-District and First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors in 1994 in addition to being tabbed the Big 5 Player of the Year.
Jenna Martino-DiFede '10, Women's Lacrosse: Martino graduated with the Hawks' single-season goals and points records while ranking second all-time in goals and points and fourth in assists. She earned a pair of First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors and was named to the All-Region First Team in 2009.
Casey Robinson '14, Women's Tennis: Robinson's 66 career singles victories were a program record upon her graduation and currently rank third all-time. She was the first Hawk to earn three Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis All-Conference honors in her career, and her 25 singles victories during the 2012-13 season are tied for the most in a single season in program history. She would go on to be chosen as a recipient of the Class of 1950 Award.
Megan Schutt '07, Women's Soccer: Schutt totaled the third-most goals and points all-time upon her graduation, and in 2003 posted the second-highest single-season goals and points totals in program history while tying for the second-most assists tallied in one season as well. That same season, she earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year honors as she helped lead the Hawks to their first-ever postseason appearance.
Sue Yagielski Kavanaugh '96, Women's Cross Country and Track and Field: One of just three Hawks to claim the Atlantic 10 women's cross country individual title, Yagielski Kavanaugh topped the field in 1995 after a third-place finish a year earlier. She was a member of the Hawks' 1993 A-10 women's cross country champions and was the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Year in 1996 as well as the winner of the Class of 1950 Award.
"The members of the newest class of inductees into the Saint Joseph's Athletic Hall of Fame are some of the most outstanding student-athletes to ever set foot on Hawk Hill," Vice President and Director of Athletics Jill Bodensteiner said. "We are incredibly proud to enshrine these women in the Hall of Fame, especially as we celebrate the golden anniversary of Title IX."
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, October 15 at 5:00 p.m. in Hagan Arena; the inductees will also be highlighted on SJUHawks.com over the coming weeks.
