The Saint Joseph's baseball program and Hawk Athletics mourn the loss of Saint Joseph's Baseball Hall of Famer Craig Eddinger '75, who passed away earlier this week.
Eddinger, the team's captain in 1975, was a four-year starter at second base for the Hawks and was a fixture at the top of the lineup. A three-time All-Middle Atlantic Conference selection, including a two-time First Team honoree, he was a key part of the Hawks' run to the 1974 MAC championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. During Eddinger's four seasons in the Crimson and Gray, the Hawks never finished below second place in the MAC standings.
Hailing from Boyertown, Pennsylvania, Eddinger played for the Boyertown Legion program for three years, winning a state championship in 1971, before coming to Hawk Hill. He would later go on to serve as a coach with the program for more than three decades before being inducted into the Boyertown Legion Hall of Fame and having his number 11 retired by the program earlier this summer.
Eddinger was inducted into the SJU Baseball Hall of Fame as an individual in 2019, and the 1974 MAC title team was inducted as a group in 2022.
The Hawks offer their deepest condolences to the Eddinger family and all of Craig's friends and former teammates.
