Women’s Cross Country Grabs Top 10 Finish at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's women's cross country team competed at the Paul Short Run on Friday afternoon, finishing sixth overall out of 46 teams in the field.
 
ABOUT THE EVENT:
  • The women competed on a 6K course in the Brown race, the second highest field in the event.
  • 46 teams were in the Brown race, the Hawks finishing in 6th place, just one point behind Charleston (W.V.).
  • 383 entries spanned across the race from the 46 teams in the Brown race.
  • Five Hawks competed in the Open Women's 6K, with 302 runners involved in the event.
 
HOW THE HAWKS FINISHED:
  • Cici Perrone led the Hawks for the first time on the season, building upon an already strong freshman campaign. The rookie finished with a time of 21:27.4, just over 10 seconds off a top 10 finish. Perrone's time proved a personal best, improving from her previous fastest finish in the 6K by more than 40 seconds. Perrone was the second-fastest freshman in the field behind NYU's Vivian Kane, who finished in 21:16.0.
  • Sarah Myers also finished in under 22 minutes, the senior edging out her PR set at the TCNJ Invitational by a second. Her time of 21:57.1 proved to be 33rd quickest.
  • Ava Curry finished 40th overall with a time of 22:05.5, also setting a new personal best in the 6K.
  • Finishing in 72nd, Alyssa Brinsky completed her race in a time of 22:26.5, becoming the fourth straight Hawk to set a new personal record at the event.
  • Becca Millar closed out the scoring for SJU, her time of 22:56.2 good for 126th. Millar finished under the 23 minute mark for the first time in her collegiate career.
  • Kate Defilippis finished just behind her junior counterpart, the freshman finishing with a time of 23:07.3 for 149th.
  • Maura Keane finished just outside the top half of the field with a time of 23:28.6, joining in on a personal record breaking day for the Hawk Hill runners.
  • Danielle Juliano made her third appearance of the year, finishing just off her career-best pace with a finish at 23:44.8.
  • Carlyn Segrave-Daly and Katie Sparks rounded out the competition in the Brown race with times of 23:46.9 and 24:08.7, respectively.
  • In the Open 6K, Madison Buddenbohn finished with a team-best time of 23:40.7 for a season-best time. Shannon Addario crossed the line under a second off the season-low pace set last week at the TCNJ Invitational, finishing in 24.12.1
  • Gabriella Bamford continued to work back from injury, making her debut in last week's race. Bamford chipped away to knock 25 seconds off of her time in her debut for a finish of 24:24.5. Carolyn Smith set her personal record in the 6K with a time of 24:37.8 by nearly a minute, while Ashleigh McNellis posted a time of 25:43.5.

  • The Hawks have a two week break before returning to action in New York for the ECAC Championships on October 14.
