Saint Joseph's begins Big 5 play this Friday as the Hawks host rival Penn at 6:30 p.m. Friday's contest will air on NBC Sports Philadelphia Plus and ESPN+, with audio broadcast available on SJUHawks.com.

• The Hawks opened their 2023-24 campaign with an 81-60 victory over Lafayette on Monday.
• Erik Reynolds II (18 points), Lynn Greer III (15 points), Rasheer Fleming (14 points), and Cameron Brown (10 points) combined for 57 points versus the Leopards.
• With Monday's win, Saint Joseph's improved to 85-28 all-time in season-opening contests and 3-2 under head coach Billy Lange.
• Friday marks the first Big 5 matchup of the season for both the Hawks and Quakers.
• The Hawks enter Friday's game against Penn with a 132-120 all-time record in Big 5 play.
• Saint Joseph's has captured 20 Big 5 titles, with its most recent coming in 2011-12 as the Hawks shared the title with Temple.
• The Hawks hold a 54-37 edge in the all-time series against the Quakers.
• Saint Joseph's has won three straight against Penn, including an 85-80 victory in overtime last year at The Palestra.

NEW YEAR, NEW BIG 5
The 2023-24 season ushers in a new look for the Big 5 as Drexel joins the organization, and a new series format has been created to crown a Big 5 champion. Announced in April, the new series features the six schools separated into three-team pods: Pod 1: Temple, La Salle, and Drexel; Pod 2: Saint Joseph's, Villanova, and Penn. Each team will play the other two teams from their pod at their individual on-campus arenas. All teams will participate in the Big 5 Classic triple-header at the New Wells Fargo Center on December 2 with the first seed teams from each pod competing for the Big 5 championship, second seed teams competing for third place, and the third seed teams competing for fifth place.

FORMER HAWK BEMBRY TO BE INDUCTED INTO THE BIG 5 HALL OF FAME
Former Saint Joseph's men's basketball standout DeAndre' Bembry will be inducted into the Philadelphia Big 5 Hall of Fame during the Big 5 Classic on December 2 at the Wells Fargo Center. A three-time All-Big 5 selection and 2015-16 Big 5 and Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, Bembry capped his career with 1,590 points and 672 rebounds, ranking 15th and 25th, respectively, all-time at St. Joe's, and guided the Hawks to a 65-36 record over his three years in Crimson and Gray, and was selected 21st overall by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2016 NBA Draft.
