Despite a gritty effort, the Saint Joseph's men's basketball team fell to La Salle, 73-65, in its Big 5 finale on Sunday afternoon at Hagan Arena.
How It Happened
• La Salle opened the game with a 7-0 run and built its lead to 11, 22-11, on a three-pointer by Josh Nickelberry at 10:09.
• A three-point play by
Charles Coleman brought the Hawks to within 24-17.
• Down 32-24, the Hawks scored six consecutive points, as a three-pointer by
Erik Reynolds II made it 32-30 with under a minute to play in the half.
• La Salle answered in its next possession with a three-pointer to take a 35-30 lead into the second half.
• Early in the second period, a three-pointer by
Rasheer Fleming made it a two-point contest, 40-38.
• The Explorers responded, scoring five of the next six points to push ahead 45-39 on a three-pointer by Jhamir Brickus at 13:51.
• The Hawks fought back to tie the game at 45-45 as a layup by Reynolds II capped a 6-0 run.
• Ahead 50-49, La Salle used an 8-2 spurt to surge to a 58-51 lead with 6:28 to play.
• Saint Joseph's would get no closer than five points from there as the Hawks wrapped up Big 5 play with a 1-3 mark on the season.
