Hawks Top Ramblers, 72-67, To Advance At Atlantic 10 Championship

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Led by a 22-point, 10-rebound, seven-assist performance from sophomore Lynn Greer III, 10th seed Saint Joseph's topped 15th seed Loyola Chicago, 72-67, in the First Round of the 2023 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship on Tuesday afternoon at Barclays Center. With the victory, the Hawks advance to face seventh seed George Washington at 5 p.m. on Wednesday in the Second Round of the A-10 Championship.

How It Happened
• Loyola Chicago jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but St. Joe's responded with six straight points as Christian Winborne made it 6-4.
• Tied at 6-6, the Hawks used a 9-2 run to open a 15-8 lead on a three-pointer by Greer III at 13:51.
• Saint Joseph's opened its biggest lead of the half, 29-18, on a three-pointer by Erik Reynolds II with 6:29 to go in the period.
• A 14-3 run by the Ramblers that spanned both halves saw the Ramblers retake the lead, 38-36, on a three-point play by Philip Alston with 15:53 to play.
• Down 42-41, Saint Joseph's used a 7-0 run to push ahead 48-42 on a layup by Reynolds II at 12:07.
• Loyola Chicago cut the Hawks' lead to two twice, but Saint Joseph's pushed its advantage back to 10, 64-54, on a Winborne three-point play with 6:18 to go.
• The Ramblers continued to chip away at the deficit, making it a 68-66 game on a three-pointer by Braden Norris with 1:02 remaining.
• On the ensuing play, Greer III drove the left baseline and found Winborne in the paint for a layup to make it a two-possession game, 70-66.
• Loyola Chicago's Norris hit the first free throw to make it 70-67, but missed the back end of the pair.
• Off the defensive rebound, Winborne was fouled and connected on a pair of free throws to seal the 72-67 win.

• The Hawks' backcourt accounted for 67 of the team's 72 points.
• Greer III was 7-11 from the field, including 4-4 from three-point range and 4-4 from the foul line.
• Cameron Brown finished with 16 points, six rebounds, a steal and a block.
• Reynolds II added 13 points, four assists, two rebounds and a steal.
• Winborne scored 16 points as he connected on 4-5 from the field and 8-9 from the foul line.
• Kacper Klaczek added a career-best three steals and matched his career-best with four blocked shots to go with three rebounds.
• Charles Coleman scored three points and added four rebounds and two assists.
• Rasheer Fleming scored two points and had three steals and two rebounds.
