BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Saint Joseph's
Erik Reynolds II scored a career-high 34 points to lead the 10th seeded Hawks past seventh seed George Washington, 87-76, in the Second Round of the 2023 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship on Wednesday evening at Barclays Center. With the victory, the Hawks advance to face second seed Dayton at 5 p.m. on Thursday in the Quarterfinals of the A-10 Championship.

How It Happened
• George Washington scored the opening nine points, and pushed ahead 12-2 on a three-pointer by Maximus Edwards less than three minutes into the contest.
• Sparked by a three-point play by
Cameron Brown, the Hawks put together a 15-1 run to take the lead, 25-24, on a jumper by
Lynn Greer III with 6:49 to go in the half.
• Down 41-37, Saint Joseph's capped the first half on a 6-0 run to take a 42-41 lead into the second period.
• The Hawks extended their lead to 53-47 early in the second half on a three-point play by
Erik Reynolds II.
• George Washington retook the lead, 60-57, behind an 8-0 run, capped by a layup by James Bishop at 9:40.
• With the Colonials ahead 67-65, a jumper by Brown started a 7-0 run for Saint Joseph's as a layup by Reynolds II gave the Hawks a 72-67 edge with 3:45 remaining.
• George Washington cut the Hawks' lead to 75-72 on a Bishop three-pointer with under two minutes to play.

Rasheer Fleming responded with a three-pointer to put Saint Joseph's ahead 78-72 with 1:17 to go.
• The Hawks' defense allowed George Washington to get no closer, as St. Joe's went 9-10 from the foul line in the final minute to preserve the win.

• Reynolds II finished the evening 10-22 from the floor, 2-7 from three-point range, and 12-12 from the line to finish with a new career-high 34 points, surpassing his previous high of 33 that he set against St. Bonaventure and Richmond earlier this year.
• Wednesday's 34 points marked the fifth time Reynolds II has scored 30 or more points in a contest this year.
• Reynolds II additionally added six rebounds, four assists, a steal and a block.
• Brown finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and three steals.
• Greer III scored 14 points, handed out four assists and grabbed three rebounds.
• Fleming was the fourth Hawk in double figures as he scored 12 points and added eight rebounds.
