NEWARK, Del. – The Saint Joseph's baseball team dropped a back-and-forth affair on Tuesday, falling to Delaware, 13-10, at Bob Hannah Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's (12-16) got on the board right away as a bases-loaded walk by
Nate Thomas forced home the game's first run in the top of the first.Â
Ryan Weingartner then hit into a double play, but
Conlan Wall scored to double the lead.Â
Ryan Picollo followed with a two-out single to score
Ryan Cesarini and make it a 3-0 game.

• The Blue Hens responded immediately, as Dan Covino hit a solo home run in the bottom of the frame to get the hosts on the board.

• Playing in his hometown,
Brett Callahan got the run back for the Hawks in the top of the second with a long home run to dead center field.Â
Max Hitman then singled in Weingartner, who had doubled, to push the lead to 5-1 after three.

• Delaware (16-16) sent 14 batters to the plate in the fourth, plating nine runs, to take a 10-5 lead.

Travis Rinker led off the top of the sixth with a solo home run to cut the deficit to four. In the seventh, another Picollo single made it a 10-7 game before a three-run home run by
Max Hitman tied the game at 10-10.

• The hosts went back in front in the bottom half, scoring three times to take a 13-10 lead. The Hawks would get a runner aboard in the ninth, but couldn't push anything across.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• Owen Margolis earned the win for Delaware, tossing the final three innings without allowing a run.Â
Frank Ciccone took the loss after he was charged with a pair of runs in a third of an inning.

Mike Picollo got the start for the Hawks and allowed a run on three hits in a no decision. Delaware starter Chris Grome failed to get out of the first, allowing three runs on one hit and four walks in two-thirds of an inning.

• Hitman was 2-for-4 with a run scored and four driven in on Tuesday; Picollo and Thomas also notched two hits apiece while Picollo recorded a pair of RBI and both Callahan and Weingartner scored twice each.

The Hawks head to Missouri to take on Saint Louis in a matchup of two of the top four in the Atlantic 10 standings. First pitch in the series opener is set for 7:00 p.m. Eastern on Friday.
