PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph's Head Coach
Billy Lange has announced its 13-game non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
2023-24 Saint Joseph's Non-Conference Schedule
The Hawks' upcoming schedule is highlighted by matchups against five 2023 NCAA Tournament opponents - Kentucky, Villanova, Princeton, Iona and the College of Charleston, two in-season events, and nine home games at Hagan Arena, including a preseason exhibition.
"Building a non-conference schedule is a 12-month, complex task, and we've created a schedule that provides great optionality for us as a program," said Lange. "Our 2023-24 schedule provides road environments against teams projected to make deep March runs in Kentucky and Villanova. We will compete in Hagan Arena, on the road, and in neutral site venues against programs that played in last year's NCAA tournament in Princeton, College of Charleston, and Iona, respectively. These games help us showcase the spirit of The Hawk Will Never Die."
Saint Joseph's fans will have an opportunity to catch the Hawks at home prior to the start of the regular season as Saint Joseph's hosts Manhattan in an NCAA-approved exhibition contest on Saturday, October 28 at Hagan Arena.
The Hawks begin their 2023-24 slate with four games at Hagan Arena, starting with the season-opener against Lafayette on November 6, then host Big 5 rival, and perennial Ivy League contender, Penn on November 10. Saint Joseph's remains at home as it competes in the Wildcat Challenge hosted by the University of Kentucky, with the Hawks opening the event with their first-ever matchups against Stonehill (Nov. 14), and Texas A&M University-Commerce (Nov. 17).
For just the third time in program history, and first since the 1997 NCAA Regional Semifinal, Saint Joseph's and Kentucky will pair up as the Hawks travel to Rupp Arena on November 20.
St. Joe's caps the opening month of the season as the Hawks return home to take on Sacred Heart (Nov. 26), then take on rival Villanova in a Big 5 matchup on November 29 at Finneran Pavilion.
The inaugural Big 5 Classic kicks off the December portion of Saint Joseph's schedule as the Hawks will take part in the previously announced Big 5 triple-header at the New Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, December 2.
Saint Joseph's returns to Hagan Arena to take on American (Dec. 6) and Ivy League champion Princeton (Dec 10), then faces MAAC champion Iona in the Holiday Hoopfest at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York on December 16.
The Hawks begin a home-and-home series on the road with reigning CAA champion College of Charleston on December 21, with the Cougars making their first-ever trip to Hagan Arena in 2024-25. Saint Joseph's caps its non-conference schedule on December 29 as they take on Loyola Maryland.
"We are excited to play in the first ever Holiday Hoopfest at UBS Arena. Additional games in Hagan Arena with the support of our passionate fan base elevate us, including a Big 5 battle against Ivy League contender Penn," said Lange.
Game times, ticket information, broadcast details and Atlantic 10 contest dates will be announced in the near future.
