PRINCETON, N.J. – The Saint Joseph's men's basketball program will take on Kentucky, Stonehill and Texas A&M University-Commerce in the Wildcat Challenge presented by Kentucky Tourism, a three-game round robin event that will take place from November 10th to November 20th, 2023.
Saint Joseph's opens the event with its first-ever matchups against Stonehill (Nov. 14), and A&M-Commerce (Nov. 17). And for just the third time in program history, and first since the 1997 NCAA Regional Semifinal, the Hawks and Kentucky will pair up as St. Joe's travels to Rupp Arena on November 20.
Saint Joseph's returns 10 letterwinners, including Atlantic 10 All-Conference standoutÂ
Erik Reynolds IIÂ and All-Big 5 standoutsÂ
Cameron Brown andÂ
Lynn Greer III, from last year's squad that made a deep run at the A-10 Championship. This season, the Hawks feature a talented lineup that includes five skilled newcomers to a roster that returns nearly 90 percent of their scoring from a season ago.
Kentucky, led by John Calipari, finished the 2022-23 regular season 21-12 and earned a six seed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. The 2023-24 Wildcats return Antonio Reeves and welcome seven highly ranked Freshmen as well as top-rated transfer Tre Mitchell.
Stonehill enjoyed tremendous success under the tutelage of Head Coach Chris Kraus at the Division Two level. They continued that trend in their inaugural Division One season going 14-17 overall and 10-4 in conference play. They finished in a tie for second place in the NEC regular season standings.
A&M-Commerce finished the 2022-23 season, their first in Division One, at 13-20 with a Southland Conference record of 9-9. Head Coach Jaret Von Rosenberg looks to build on the solid foundation established during last season.
