Saint Joseph's goalkeeper
Katie Cappelletti earned her program-record 17th career shutout on Thursday as the Hawks' women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw against Rhode Island at Sweeney Field.
How It Happened
• Saint Joseph's started its Atlantic 10 opener pushing the ball forward and recording two of its four shots of the half in the opening nine minutes.
• Rhode Island had arguably the best scoring chance of the first half on a drive by Tess O'Connell, but Cappelletti stood tall and made a diving save.
• After a scoreless first half, the Rams had the first scoring chance, but Cappelletti again turned away Rhode Island's chance.
• The Hawks looked to break through in the 71st minute, but a shot by
Nicole Everard couldn't find the back of the net.
• Entering the final minutes of the match scoreless, Rhode Island had one more scoring chance as they pressed the ball deep into the St. Joe's zone.
• As she did all night, Cappelletti came through and thwarted the Rams' final attempt.
