Hawks Fall At Saint Louis, 88-85

ST. LOUIS – Saint Joseph's Erik Reynolds II led four Hawks in double figures with 27 points, but Saint Louis topped the Hawks, 88-85, Wednesday evening at Chaifetz Arena.

How It Happened
• Five-straight points by Reynolds II snapped a 3-3 start as a layup made it 8-3 at 16:23.
• A deep three-pointer from Christ Essandoko punctuated an 8-1 run for the Hawks to make it 19-9.
• Saint Joseph's opened a 20-point lead with 6:07 to go in the first half as a three-pointer by Reynolds II capped a 13-1 run that put the Hawks ahead 37-17.
• Saint Louis scored 10 of the next 12 points as a three-pointer by Cian Medley brought the Billikens to within 39-27.
• Up 43-33 to start the second half, Saint Joseph's took a 55-40 lead on a Reynolds II three-pointer less than four minutes into the period.
• Saint Louis quickly countered with a 14-4 run as a three-pointer by Tim Dalger made it a five-point contest, 59-54, at 12:10.
• The Billikens took their first lead, 65-63, on a three-pointer by Gibson Jimmerson with 8:59 to play.
• Saint Joseph's pulled back ahead, 69-68, on a Reynolds II layup.
• Saint Louis followed with a basket by Dalger, and built its lead to as many as seven, 80-73.
• The Hawks evened the contest at 80-80 on a pair of free throws by Reynolds II with 1:07.
• The Billikens got a basket from Ezewiro, and following a defensive stop, Medley hit two free throws to open an 84-80 lead.
• Reynolds II connected on a contested three-pointer to get the Hawks within 84-83 with 8.7 second remaining.
• Saint Louis and St. Joe's traded free throws, with Reynolds II making it a one-point contest again, 86-85.
• Medley knocked down two free throws with four seconds remaining to give Saint Louis a 88-85 edge.
• Off the second make, the Hawks pushed the ball ahead, only to have their game-tying three miss its mark.

Inside The Boxscore
• Reynolds II went 7-15 from the field, 5-12 from deep and 8-8 from the line to reach double-figure scoring for the 42nd consecutive game.
Lynn Greer III finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
• Essandoko added 12 points and a game-high eight rebounds.
Xzayvier Brown was the fourth Hawk in double figures, finishing with 10 points, two assists and two rebounds.
• Saint Joseph's and Saint Louis will play again this season as the Hawks host the Billikens on February 10.
