Box Score AMHERST, Mass. – A putback layup by
Lynn Greer III with 1.4 seconds remaining gave Saint Joseph's a 78-77 comeback victory over UMass on Tuesday evening at the Mullins Center.
How It Happened
• Saint Joseph's jumped out to a 6-2 lead, but UMass countered with an 8-0 run to take a 10-6 lead on a Rahsool Diggins three-pointer at 15:30.
• The Minutemen continued to lead for the next 12 minutes, but a jumper by
Xzayvier Brown tied the game at 34-34 with 3:12 left in the half.
• UMass regained the lead and took a 42-38 advantage into halftime.
• A jumper by
Cameron Brown knotted the game at 48-48 just over three minutes into the second period.
• The Minutemen responded with a 9-0 run to open a 57-48 lead on a basket by Diggins.
• UMass extended its lead to 13, 66-53 on a Jaylen Curry layup at 10:33.
• St. Joe's began to chip away at the deficit from there as a pair of free throws by
Rasheer Fleming brought the Hawks to within 67-65 at 6:07.
• Four-straight points by UMass gave the hosts a 71-65 advantage with 5:07 to play.
• Greer III capped a 7-0 response to give the Hawks a 72-71 lead with 1:50 left.
• Matt Cross put the Minutemen back in front on a layup, but
Erik Reynolds II answered with a jumper to give Saint Joseph's a 74-73 lead with 1:04 remaining.
• The two teams traded free throws, with the Hawks holding a 76-75 advantage following free throws by Reynolds II with :30 to go.
• A layup by Diggins with 12.5 seconds left put the Minutemen back out front, 77-76.
• With seconds ticking away, Greer III drove the right side of the paint for a layup. Despite missing the first attempt, Greer III grabbed the offensive rebound and scored the go-ahead basket with 1.4 second left to make it 78-77.
• Without any timeouts to use. UMass quickly inbounded the ball, only to have its desperation shot fall short.

• Reynolds II finished with a season-best 31 points, going 11-17 from the floor, 5-7 from three-point range and 4-5 from the line, while adding three rebounds, three steals and three assists.

Xzayvier Brown was the only other Hawk in double figures, adding 11 points to go with three boards, two assists and two steals.
• Greer III scored seven points, handed out four assists and grabbed six rebounds.
• Fleming grabbed a team-best 11 rebounds to go with eight points.
