HOW IT HAPPENED
  • It was a slow start for both teams on the offensive end, but the Hawks were able to build their initial lead thanks to crashing the offensive glass, as Haskins pulled in a pair of o-boards, leading to five second chance points in the opening nine minutes.
  • Leading by three, St. Joe's turned up the defense as a block and a turnover helped to ignite an 11-0 run, pushing the advantage to 24-10 at the 9:16 mark of the first half.
  • SJU continued to front run, connecting on 10-of-18 shots in the final 11 minutes of the half, eventually going up by as many as 20 points before going into the break on top 42-26.
  • Early in the second stanza, the Eagles made a brief run, cutting the lead to 14. St. Joe's responded, scoring 20 of the next 27 points, going up 64-37 with 8:34 remaining.
  • Methodically, the Hawks expanded the lead to the final margin in the waning stages of the game.
