CHICAGO – Saint Joseph's freshman
Xzayvier Brown scored a career-best 29 points, but Loyola Chicago held off the Hawks' late rally for a 64-59 decision on Wednesday evening at Gentile Arena.
How it Happened
• Loyola Chicago took control from the tip as the Ramblers ran out to a 14-0 lead, capped by a pair of free throws by Dame Adelekun just under six minutes into the contest.
• Sparked by a
Rasheer Fleming basket, the Hawks used a 14-2 run to pull within 16-14 on a driving layup by
Cameron Brown at 8:56.
• The Hawks took their first lead of the game, 20-19, on a three-pointer by
Erik Reynolds II.
• Loyola Chicago responded with a 10-2 run as a Philip Alston basket made it 29-22 with 1:39 remaining.

Xzayvier Brown took over from there, scoring eight-straight points for the Hawks, including a three-pointer with :04 left in the half, to give St. Joe's a 30-29 edge at halftime.
• Loyola Chicago broke a 32-32 tie with an 8-0 run as an Alston three-pointer made it 40-32.
• Consecutive baskets from Reynolds II and Fleming brought the Hawks to within 40-36.
• The Ramblers built their lead to as many as nine four times, holding a 51-42 advantage on a pair of Des Watson free throws at 9:30.
• St. Joe's continued to battle as a contested three-pointer by
Xzayvier Brown brought the Hawks within 54-50 with 4:27 to play.

Xzayvier Brown finished the night 8-16 from the field, 4-7 from distance and 9-9 from the line for 29 points.
• Brown, whose previous career-high of 27 points came this past Saturday versus Saint Louis, grabbed a team-best seven rebounds and added three assists, two steals and a blocked shot.
• Reynolds II was the only other Hawk in double figures, adding 12 points to go with three boards and two steals.
• Fleming finished with eight points, five rebounds and two blocks, while
Cameron Brown chipped in with seven points and four rebounds.
