Men's Basketball Tripped Up At Duquesne, 66-56

PITTSBURGH – Saint Joseph's Cameron Brown scored a game-high 18 points, but Duquesne held off the Hawks for a 66-56 win on Saturday afternoon at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.

How It Happened
• In a defensive-minded first half, Duquesne took a 14-10 lead on a Halil Barre layup just under eight minutes in.
• A pair of free throws by Lynn Greer III tied the game at 14-14.
• The Dukes responded with eight straight points, opening a 22-14 advantage on a three-pointer by Jimmy Clark III at 7:25.
• Saint Joseph's countered with a 7-0 run as a baseline jumper by Xzayvier Brown brought the Hawks within 22-21 with 2:42 to go in the half.
• The Dukes regained momentum as they scored nine of the final 11 points of the period to take a 31-23 edge into halftime.
• St. Joe's opened the second half aggressively at both ends as a three-pointer by Cameron Brown brought the Hawks within 33-30.
• Duquesne opened a 44-34 lead on a three-pointer by Clark III.
Erik Reynolds II quickly connected on a three of his own to make it 44-37.
• A Jake DiMichele three-pointer sparked a 15-5 run for the Duquesne as they opened a 60-43 lead on a Clark III layup with 4:24 to go.
• Eight consecutive points from Cameron Brown brought the Hawks within 60-51, but the Dukes allowed the Hawks to get no closer.

Cameron Brown added four rebounds and a blocked shot to go with 18 points.
Rasheer Fleming matched his career-high with 12 rebounds, and had six points and three steals.
• Fleming previously grabbed 12 rebounds three times, the most recent coming against La Salle on January 15, 2024.
Xzayvier Brown finished with a season-best five steals and chipped in with eight points, six rebounds and three assists.
• Saint Joseph's and Duquesne split their season series.
