PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team closed out the indoor portion of its home slate on Saturday evening, falling to Delaware State by a 5-2 score.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's had the early advantage, coming from a match down to win the doubles point.  ireland Amato and Sophia Amato were 6-4 winners in the second flight before Charlotte Kordonowy and Brooke Tackett outlasted their opponents, 7-5, in the third to put the Hawks on the board.

• Delaware State answered in singles play, posting victories in the first five flights to secure the overall match triumph.  Ireland Amato earned a point for the Hawks in the sixth flight, topping her opponent in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5.

"We knew it was going to be a tough match tonight; they are a very deep team," head coach Jeff Puhan said.  "The highlight was that we played very solid doubles, winning the doubles point for the first time this spring.  We can build on this going forward.  We have a lot to learn and a lot of work to do.  Congrats to Ireland for fighting in her singles win.  Now we work hard this week and get ready to battle in Florida on Spring Break."
