Kayla Tauber went 3-for-3 with a RBI, but Monmouth downed the Hawks, 3-1, on Wednesday afternoon at MU Softball Park.
How It Happened
• Monmouth took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second as Tess Thompson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, allowing Ana Rodriguez to score.
• Abby Warner scored on a fielder's choice by Gabby Gesualdo later in the second to make it 2-0.
• Saint Joseph's cut Monmouth's advantage to 2-1 in the fifth as Tauber singled home
Sierra Fretz.
• Monmouth added an insurance run in the sixth as Savannah Simons singled home Giana Scotti to push the advantage to 3-1.
• Saint Joseph's threatened in the top of the seventh with a lead-off single by
Shelby LaMont, but Monmouth worked out of trouble to close out the game.
