MERION STATION, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's baseball team closed out its four-game homestand on Wednesday, falling to Navy by a 17-7 score.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Navy (11-10) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, pushing it to a five-run advantage in the third.

• Saint Joseph's (8-10) got on the board in the bottom of the frame. After a single by
Joey Gale and a walk to
Conlan Wall,
Ryan Weingartner singled to right to score Gale.
Â
• Two batters later,
Ryan Picollo ripped a single up the middle to plate Wall and Weingartner and get the Hawks back within a pair.
Â
• Unfortunately for the Crimson and Gray, the Midshipmen added three in the fourth and six in the fifth.
Â
• Picollo added a third RBI on a single with one out in the fifth to make it a 14-4 game.

• Navy would add three in the top of the seventh before
Owen Petrich closed out the scoring with a three-run home run in the bottom of the inning.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• Brock Murtha allowed three runs in two and a third innings to earn the win for Navy, while
David Owsik allowed five runs in two innings to take the loss.

• Petrich and Picollo both went 2-for-4 on the day with three runs batted in for SJU. Eduardo Diaz tied Navy's single-game program record with six hits on the day.

Drew DeSanto and
Luke Parise made their collegiate debuts on the mound for the Hawks on Wednesday.

Dean Bergmann recorded his first collegiate hit on a single in the bottom of the seventh inning.
