KINGSTON, R.I. – The Saint Joseph's baseball team fell to Rhode Island on Friday, 6-3, in the opener of a three-game series between the teams at Bill Beck Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's (12-17 overall, 3-4 Atlantic 10) got on the board in the top of the first, as
Ryan Weingartner drew a walk and scored on a double by
Owen Petrich.
Â
• The hosts leveled in the bottom of the inning on a leadoff home run by Anthony Depino, but the Hawks went back on top in the third.Â
Conlan Wall led off with a triple before Weingartner gave the Hawks the lead with a double and came around to score on a pair of errors.

• Rhode Island (10-17 overall, 3-4 Atlantic 10) tied things up in the bottom of the third on a two-run home run by DJ Perron. The Rams then took the lead on a solo home run in the fourth by Eric Genther before another solo shot in the fifth by Will Hindle made it a 5-3 game.

• Michael Borrelli closed out the scoring with an RBI double in the seventh for URI.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• AJ Jones tossed six innings for Rhode Island, allowing three runs on five hits, to earn the win, while Jeremy Urena threw three shutout innings for the save.Â
Will McCausland took the loss for the Hawks, allowing five runs on 10 hits in five innings, striking out six against one walk.

Carter Jagiela was 2-for-3 with a walk on the day, while Weingartner was 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored for SJU.
