th-ranked Saint Joseph's field hockey team opened conference play in style on Friday night, blanking Davidson, 5-0, at Belk Turf Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's (6-1 overall, 1-0 Atlantic 10) wasted absolutely no time as
Manu Ghigliotti sent a ball across the circle that
Lily Santi tipped home after 38 seconds.

• Santi doubled the lead after five minutes when she redirected a ball from
Julia Duffhuis high into the net.

Alison Buffington extended the lead to three early in the second quarter when her ball across the front of goal deflected in off the keeper.

• Late in the fourth,
Bridget McCormick sent a pass to the far post that
Erika Culp tipped in for a 4-0 lead.

Manu Ghigliotti capped things off with a low rocket into the corner of the cage with no time left on the clock to set the final score.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• MaryKate Berg made five saves for Davidson (2-3 overall, 0-1 Atlantic 10), while
Marith Bijkerk made one and
Shannon McNally did not see a shot in an even split of time in the cage for the Hawks.
