WASHINGTON – Saint Joseph's graduate student
Ava Smith has earned weekly honors from the Atlantic 10 for the second consecutive week as she was named the conference's Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Â
Smith had a record-breaking day on Friday, tying the program record with four goals and setting a new program high mark with nine points as the Hawks routed Lock Haven, 9-0, on the road. After assisting on the game's first goal, Smith tallied the next three to send the Hawks into halftime with a 4-0 lead; early in the fourth quarter, she scored her fourth of the day to tie the longstanding single-game goals record and surpass the single-game points record, both of which were first set in 1990.
Â
The Glasgow, Scotland, native leads the Hawks and is tied for third in the league with 10 goals, and her 21 points rank her fourth in the A-10.
