McCool Adds Steward, Tauber to Saint Joseph's Softball Staff

PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph's softball head coach, Gina McCool, announced the addition of two assistant coaches, bringing on India Steward and Kayla Tauber to the staff.
 
Steward founded Teflon Softball in 2023 and has grown the program from the ground up with the 14u team ranking in the top-50 in the Midwest and earning three All-America honors.
 
Prior to Teflon, Steward spent eight seasons as a coach with multiple teams in the Chicago area, a stint that included the 2024 IHSA Regional Championship at Stevenson High School and a PGF Regional Championship with the Beverly Bandits.
 
As a player, she hit .254 in 109 games for Ball State. As a senior, she started all 54 games, hitting .282 with four homers and 18 RBI, while stealing 14 bases in 16 attempts. In 2015, she helped lead the Cardinals to a MAC Western Division title and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. She holds a B.S. in Sport Administration from Ball State and a Master's in Sport, Fitness and Recreation from DePaul.
 
Tauber recently wrapped a four-year career at St. Joe's where she finished 28th all-time for SJU softball with 151 hits. She was a member of the 2022 A-10 All-Rookie Team and an Atlantic 10 Second Team honoree in 2024. She also stole 33 bases, tying for fifth on the Hawks' all-time list.
 
As a senior in 2025, Tauber hit .271 with 12 RBI. She posted a .381 on-base percentage thanks to 31 walks.
 
Saint Joseph's went 30-25 last season, its first year with 30 or more wins since 2013.
